Character (Original Universe)
Name: Scrooge McDuck
Age: 90
Gender: Male
Canon: Disney Comics
Canon Point: After the present-time segment of "The Prisoner of White Agony Creek."
History: There are a lot of different takes on Scrooge McDuck. The cartoons, the video games, the various comics, etc. This incarnation of Scrooge McDuck specifically follows the Don Rosa comics. Don Rosa is an official Disney comic book author and the stories he wrote are the "official" Duck canon in the comic-verse. All of his stories try to respect the canon first established by Carl Backs, the creator of Scrooge McDuck. Long story short, it means that the stories and details given by Don Rosa are considered to be primary canon, whereas the stories by Carl Barks are secondary canon.
DuckTales was inspired by the Barks comics, therefore there are a some loose similarities between TV!Scrooge and Comic!Scrooge. However, outside of the Don Rosa and Barks stories, nothing is considered canon for this version of Scrooge McDuck (though some details may be borrowed so long as they don't conflict with the Don Rosa canon).

The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck
List of Disney Comics by Don Rosa
Personality:"I made it by being smarter than the smarties and tougher than the toughies, and I made it square!"
– Scrooge McDuck, to Huey, Dewey and Louie.
Born in a poor family, Scrooge left home when he was still a child in order to gain money. And today, Scrooge McDuck is famous for being the richest duck in the world-- More than that, he is famous for being the greediest duck in the world. Being as rich as he is, one could think he lives a life of luxury. Yet, nothing could be further from the truth. He doesn't buy the newspapers, he goes to look for the ones people throw away in the trash can. He could order excellent food, but it's far more economical to just go to Donald's house and eat with him (it helps that Donald is an excellent cook). In fact, finding new ways to save money is his specialty. After all, few people use the same calendar they bought thirty years ago. And yet, that doesn't seem to bother Scrooge. Besides, the "Beautiful Banks of France" calendar was a gift, he didn't even buy it in the first place.
But saving money isn't enough. He needs to get more. Being the richest duck to have ever existed is an accomplishment of course, but it is not an end for him, it is only a step. This is why Scrooge always goes on adventure to get even richer, and more often than not he brings his poor nephews along with him. Even though he left school early and never received a proper education, he is incredibly smart. During his life of adventure he learnt many languages, studied history and myths to get clues so as to know where he could find treasures and what he went through taught him how to be a peerless businessman.
Beyond all of this, his greed manifests in his ability to smell money, gold and other such treasures when they're around. He also possesses the ability to swim into money, which surprises even his nephews. The length to which he goes to save and gain money is extraordinary and beyond that of any other person.
However, what Scrooge McDuck is famous for is different of what Scrooge McDuck actually is. What few people know is that his money bin doesn't contain "money," not as far as he is concerned. It contains "memories." Indeed, every single coins found in his bin has a memory attached to it. Holding a coin reminds him of how he acquired it, and the memories of his adventures are far more precious than the money itself. This is in part why his 'Number One Dime' is so important. It's his first memory of having gained money, an American coin even though he lived in Scotland.
"Then why does everyone still think 'McDuck' is synonymous with greed?"
"I let people choose to think what they want to think. Like my nephew - our nephew - Donald...
If he knew that, for me, my bin is filled with my memories rather than with my money, he'd have even less respect for me than he does!"
– Scrooge McDuck answering to his sister, Matilda McDuck.
For Scrooge, the journey is far more important than the destination. And unfortunately, he lost a lot during the journey. He lost his family, his friends, everything except his money. On his own, Scrooge would have died a sad and lonely duck, as he had sacrificed everything in the name of money. Donald and his nephews are the ones who rekindled his love for adventure, and this is why he always brings them along when he goes on a new adventure. He values his nephews far more than he values his money. Scrooge has a soft side, and on rare occasions he's even been shown to voluntarily lose money because it benefited his nephews or someone he cared about.
He follows a strict set of morals and refuses to steal or be dishonest: he works hard for his money and deserves every last penny he has acquired. This soft side of him is one he is reluctant to ever show, as he prefer letting everyone think that he is nothing more than a greedy and mean duck who always wants more money-- It's better that way. What he doesn't hesitate to show however is his honesty. He will reprimand anyone he sees being dishonest, even if these persons are his nephews. However of course, in the context of business sometimes dishonesty is a necessity when it comes to speculating or omitting certain elements. As Scrooge notes it himself, in his quest for money he does sometimes lose what traits define him.
He is a decent human being when speaking with people, but don't expect him to give money to those in need. That's not his style, but he'll hire them for the fantastical salary of $0.25 per hour if they're willing to work! That's few, but as Scrooge is loyal and honest, those working for him rarely complain. When they do complain, they still respect him. Scrooge even treats his enemy with some amount of respect. He's saved the lives of the Beagle Boys or Magica De Spell on many occasions. But as he notes it himself, it's not because he cares for them, it's because he doesn't want to feel guilt for their death if he doesn't save them. Indeed, Scrooge has serious guilt issues whenever he does something wrong, thus why he always ends up doing what's right. Well, nearly always...
Third-Person Sample: A new world. Past the initial shock and disbelief, this was an incredible opportunity! A new world filled with undiscovered treasures, more knowledge for him to take in. Yes of course there was this 'Calamity' to take into account, but the others were there to deal with it. Besides, if these people had taken him to this world, surely they had to know what he would do once there. And that is when, after walking through the city for a moment, he noticed something. Or rather, the lack of something. He turned to the Moogle.
"Where is the bank?"
"The bank...? Oh, we have a small one in the Ninth District."
One bank, for such a big city? That was strange, and wasn't the ninth district dedicated to Moogles. he frowned and was about to be on his way, when suddenly it all made sense. Disbelief then a hunger for money crossed his eyes as he turned back to the Moogle.
"... You don't have a proper banking system?"
He spoke the words with disbelief, but soon he rubbed his hands together. Indeed, this world was filled with countless opportunities for adventure! None of the heroes of Light before him had established a proper banking system, or so it seemed... He would have to be fast and create the McDuck bank to establish his monopoly over the banking system of this world before anyone he could. He had been here barely for hours, but already become the richest person in this world seemed to be a very attainable objective.
